Sound Insulation Design & Testing

Part E of the Building Regulations requires that new dwellings and schools are constructed to achieve certain acoustic standards. We are experienced in the detailed acoustic design required to comply with, or exceed, Part E standards.

We are also accredited through the Association of Noise Consultants (ANC) to carry out Pre-completion Sound Testing to demonstrate compliance with Part E. We have carried out several thousand of these tests, which have given us a wealth of data on the in-situ performance of most types of building constructions. This enables us to be confident in our designs without needing to ‘over-engineer’ constructions, often saving clients substantial sums.

Success Stories

Apartment Block – First Phase of Ruskin Square Development

Client: Midgard Ltd
Architects: Allford Hall Monaghan Morris

Cass Allen Associates has been instructed by Midgard Ltd to assess the acoustic design of this apartment block, which rises from 9 to 20-storeys and is part of the first phase of the £500m development at Ruskin Square in Croydon.

An Environmental Impact Assessment showed that noise levels at the site are dictated by the adjacent East Croydon railway line and traffic on surrounding roads. We are currently advising on the acoustic design of the external envelope of the building before moving on to address the internal acoustics of Phase 1.
