We are also accredited through the Association of Noise Consultants (ANC) to carry out Pre-completion Sound Testing to demonstrate compliance with Part E. We have carried out several thousand of these tests, which have given us a wealth of data on the in-situ performance of most types of building constructions. This enables us to be confident in our designs without needing to ‘over-engineer’ constructions, often saving clients substantial sums.

Cass Allen Associates has been instructed by Midgard Ltd to assess the acoustic design of this apartment block, which rises from 9 to 20-storeys and is part of the first phase of the £500m development at Ruskin Square in Croydon.
An Environmental Impact Assessment showed that noise levels at the site are dictated by the adjacent East Croydon railway line and traffic on surrounding roads. We are currently advising on the acoustic design of the external envelope of the building before moving on to address the internal acoustics of Phase 1.

To provide design advice and pre-completion acoustic testing to this conversion of the former Masonic School for Boys into luxury apartments.
This is one of many conversions of listed buildings that Cass Allen have advised on. Often, refurbishments are acoustically more complex than new-build developments due to working within the constraints of the existing building fabric, and the lack of repeating details throughout the development. In this conversion, no two apartments are the same.

To carry out an environmental noise assessment and Part E design study on a new 180 dwelling mixed use development close to a railway line on a former factory site in North London. Acoustic modelling superimposed upon satellite imagery was used to predict the noise level on the various facades of the development. Pre-completion tests demonstrated that the acoustic design was successful.
