A sustainable development delivering high quality student accommodation in Nottingham’s city centre. Cass Allen reviewed project documentation and consulted with the design team to develop acoustic strategies, including conducting site noise surveys and 3D modelling, specifying facade and mechanical plant noise controls, and ensuring internal sound insulation met regulations.

Reports for planning compliance were prepared and sound insulation testing at RIBA stage 5 were carried out for ~354 student rooms, successfully demonstrating compliance with Building Regulations Part E.

Apartment Block – First Phase of Ruskin Square Development

Cass Allen Associates has been instructed by Midgard Ltd to assess the acoustic design of this apartment block, which rises from 9 to 20-storeys and is part of the first phase of the £500m development at Ruskin Square in Croydon.

An Environmental Impact Assessment showed that noise levels at the site are dictated by the adjacent East Croydon railway line and traffic on surrounding roads. We are currently advising on the acoustic design of the external envelope of the building before moving on to address the internal acoustics of Phase 1.

Kew Bridge West Development

St James, part of the Berkeley Group, have instructed Cass Allen Associates to provide detailed acoustic design advice through the design and construction stages of this exciting new development.

The development is located on Kew Bridge Road, in Brentford, opposite the River Thames. It will consist of three residential blocks housing 1, 2 & 3 bedroom apartments and underground parking.

New Mixed Use Development – London

To carry out an environmental noise assessment and Part E design study on a new 180 dwelling mixed use development close to a railway line on a former factory site in North London. Acoustic modelling superimposed upon satellite imagery was used to predict the noise level on the various facades of the development. Pre-completion tests demonstrated that the acoustic design was successful.
