Offices and commercial developments often contain a number of acoustically complex areas such as AV conference rooms, meeting rooms, auditoria etc. These areas can have very exacting acoustic requirements for speech privacy, speech intelligibility and acoustic absorption/diffusion. We are experienced in assessing and advising on the design of these spaces using state of the art 3D computer simulation software.
We also monitor building wellness parameters to investigate the impact of indoor air quality on occupants, helping to improve staff health, job satisfaction and productivity.

Cass Allen were appointed to assess the existing acoustic conditions in the second floor offices of Yorkshire Housing’s newly built office building and provide guidance for the fit-out of the first floor presentation spaces.
The building utilises a CLT (cross laminated timber) construction, which is an alternative to the typical concrete frame buildings widely used in the UK that has a unique set of properties and challenges from an acoustics standpoint. The key challenge has been to provide adequate sound insulation between the presentation spaces and offices to enable flexible use of both spaces, while maintaining the visual appeal of CLT where possible to achieve both acoustics and aesthetic goals.
