Cass Allen is proud to have supported Taylor Wimpey in delivering acoustic design for the landmark Coronation Square development in Leyton — overcoming the complexity of mixing residential apartments with major indoor sports facilities and community uses.
Coronation Square is a significant regeneration project, delivering hundreds of new homes along with a community centre, NHS health hub and leisure facilities. The huge sports hall contains up to 6 full sized basketball courts or 20 badminton courts! Cass Allen’s acoustic design ensures that these sports and community facilities can be used in tandem without noise disturbance to each other or to the residents above. A particular achievement was ensuring the large hall and surrounding multifunction rooms complied with Sport England’s rigorous acoustics standards.
Projects like Coronation Square highlight how acoustic expertise can unlock challenging sites to provide high quality homes as land availability decreases — whether near transport infrastructure, sporting venues or active commercial spaces. In this case, all apartments were able to achieve noise environments compliant with British Standard guidance and the local planning authority’s own requirements, avoiding the stress and sleep issues that can occur with excess noise and providing good quality, healthy homes.

We are proud to have supported Taylor Wimpey on this landmark development and to see the project continue to progress through key regulatory milestones.
As developments continue to evolve in scale and complexity, projects such as Coronation Square provide a clear example of how thoughtful acoustic engineering supports successful placemaking — ensuring that communities can thrive, even in the most challenging acoustic settings.
