Senior Acoustics Consultant

Cass Allen is looking for exceptional Senior and Principal consultants to join our team.

Confident, dynamic and articulate, you will have a minimum of three years (Senior) or 5 years (Principal) experience with a high-quality consultancy environment.

The role is based in our modern offices on the Priory Business Park in Bedford with excellent links to London, Cambridge, Milton Keynes and northern regions. A hybrid working schedule is in place for all our team members (2 days in the office and 3 days from home), however alternative schedules would be considered.

Ideal Candidate:

  • A track record of industry experience – minimum 3 years (Senior) or 5 years (Principal).
  • A strong academic background including (ideally) a degree in Acoustics or a related subject (e.g. Physics, Audio Technology).
  • Membership of the IOA (Institute of Acoustics).
  • Excellent technical skills, including experience in planning work, mechanical plant design and building acoustics.
  • Sufficient standing to represent the company at regular project meetings.
  • An ability to drive small and large projects forward and ensure that they are completed in a timely manner.
  • An outgoing, enthusiastic and confident manner.
  • Excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing.
  • Strong organisation and administration skills, with the ability to prioritise workloads.
  • Good commercial awareness and a willingness to take part in marketing/business development activities.
  • Existing client base.

Graduate Acoustics Consultant

Due to high demand for our services, we require practically minded and intelligent Graduate Acoustics Consultants to join our busy office in Bedford.

Candidates need to have an Acoustics degree or closely engineering related subject (including Mathematics, Physics or Music Technology), with strong A Levels across maths and science disciplines. Applicants need to have a personable and friendly manner, whilst also possessing strong communication skills to represent the company to prospective clients and industry contacts. A driver’s licence and own car will be required, however applications are accepted from candidates who are due to obtain their licence shortly.

Upon joining the team, you will gain a fast insight into the world of acoustic consultancy, having responsibilities in site and desk duties such as noise measurement surveys, sound insulation testing, 3D noise modelling and report preparation. You will have the chance to work across a wide range of developments including rural, urban or industrial environments across the UK!

As you progress, you will be able to manage projects from start to finish, working alongside some of the UK’s most respected architects, developers, engineers and construction teams. We are involved with the acoustic design of some of the UK’s most high profile construction projects, including Europe’s tallest residential building!

Graduate Air Quality Consultant

Our Air Quality Team is growing, and we want you to join us! You will be a dynamic Air Quality Consultant working on a wide range of exciting projects, while you develop your technical skills and career in the growing field of air quality consultancy. The ideal candidate will have a science or environment-based degree (e.g. Physical Geography, Environmental Science, Chemistry, Maths). All training will be provided in-house.

As a consultancy we pride ourselves on backing up our excellent technical knowledge with practical experience and a pragmatic outlook on solving real world air quality and odour problems. We work closely as a team and look to learn from our colleagues at every opportunity, whilst involving our colleagues in all aspects of consultancy.

Construction Monitoring Technician

As a Construction Monitoring Technician at Cass Allen you will play a key role in ensuring the successful delivery of construction monitoring projects. Your primary responsibility will be to install and maintain dust, noise and vibration monitoring equipment on active construction sites and assist the construction monitoring team in the delivery of technical reports. You will collaborate closely with project managers, site managers and contractors to provide a high quality service that meets our clients’ specific needs.

There will also be opportunity for the right candidate to progress into a Consultancy role in one or more of our environmental engineering disciplines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Installing and maintaining construction monitoring equipment throughout the UK
  • Checking the status of monitoring devices and reporting any issues to site staff and Cass Allen construction monitoring team
  • Troubleshooting equipment issues on site
  • Maintaining and managing the company storeroom including both the construction monitoring and other consultancy technical equipment. This will include organising and sending equipment for laboratory calibration.
  • Downloading and analysing construction monitoring data, preparing weekly or monthly reports for project specific requirements, with support and guidance from senior staff within the construction monitoring team
  • Providing support to the construction monitoring team and wider Cass Allen team as needed

Qualifications:

  • A working knowledge of practical electronics will be helpful (e.g. maintenance of signal cables or battery connections), as well as being proficient in using hand-held tools (power drills, impact driver etc)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret data
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
